So, I recently tried Starbucks’ Unicorn Frappuccino and I wasn’t the biggest fan, HOWEVER I couldn’t help but love how adorable it was. Why can’t all drinks be that pretty?! Anyhow, So if you know me, then you know I love bright colors, glitter, and child-like looking things that make me feel happy and bubbly. So, with that considered I decided to make my own Frozen themed Bark, which I will share with you below in just a second. 😉 I often see themed barks on sites like Pinterest so I know it isn’t the most original idea BUT it tastes much better than the Unicorn Frappuccino so check it out and enjoy with these easy steps:
Step 1: Get them Supplies!
All of the supplies below I got at Walmart. The baking items will be in either the general baking aisle in the grocery section of the store or in the party supplies aisle of the store where all the professional baking stuff is sold).
Here is what you need:
- 1 16oz package of Candiquik (White Vanilla)
- 2 bags of ChocoMaker (or any other brand). (I used Bright Purple and Bright Blue)
- Frozen Cereal with the snowflake marshmallows.
- Celebrations Pearls (Teal, White, Purple Mix) or/and Frozen inspired cupcake toppings.
- Wilton Sparkle Gel (Clear Color)
- Sprinkles (The ones that look like sparkles, in blue, purple and white)
- Parchment Paper
- Pan of any size and material (I used a 13 x 9 inch)
Alright so as I was making this I figured out a view tips and tricks that will help your experience making this go much more smoothly than mine. The first one is to get all of your supplies ready first. By this I mean make sure everything is out of the package and ready to grab, because once your chocolate is melted, you want to be as fast as you can in getting them decorations on and applying the colored chocolate. Stressed out? LET IT GO because This will be super easy and FUN to make..trust me. 🙂 All you need do is read these helpful tips before going through the directions:
- When preparing your supplies, have your pan ready by lining it with parchment paper.
- Have your purple and blue chocolate ready to microwave immediately after the white chocolate is done melting so that you are able to mix the colors together with ease.
- Have all your decorations out of the package because you need to decorate before the chocolate dries.
- Oh and last but not least…HAVE FUN!
P.S: If you are making this for a boys party, simply use blue and white sprinkles and chocolate if you are wanting more of an Olaf bark vs. an Elsa one. (As you can see in the final product, the purple was inspired by the Elsa Paper plates).
Step 2: Melt that chocolate!
First you want to start with the white chocolate and follow the directions on the package until the chocolate is easily easy to stir. Then immediately pour the chocolate on your parchment lined pan. Now put the purple and blue chocolate wafers in separate containers and microwave them until they are also ready to stir.
Step 3: Mixing the Chocolate.
This step is fun but looks best when done simply. So using a toothpick or a fork, dip it into either the blue or purple chocolate and lightly make a swirly motion on top of the white chocolate slab that is in the pan. Do this however you like but try to avoid putting too much purple or blue together so that you avoid any dark tones or the white chocolate losing all its color. If you mess up like I did, no worries because you will be able to cover up the imperfections later. 😉
Step 4: Decoration Time! (The fun part)
So you can apply the decorations anyway that you like but I think the best way to start is by applying the sprinkles first, then the candy and marshmallows. When applying the marshmallows and candy, gently press them into the melted chocolate so that they stay put when the chocolate dries. Using the sparkle gel apply designs if you would like or use as a glue for the candies if your chocolate is drying too fast.
If you need some inspiration, here is how mine turned out right before breaking it up:
Now we will want to do the final touches so first allow the chocolate to dry until it is firm and ready to break into pieces. Break the bark into different sized pieces and place on the serving tray, then continue to step 6 to add the frozen/crystal-like effects seen here:
Step 6: Add the Icy, crystalized effects!
This step is my personal favorite because it just looks so pretty to me and really makes the bark look more ‘Frozen’ inspired since mine turned out more purple than I would have liked.
Okay so to create the frosty effects on your bark, it is easiest to do it piece by piece. You simple take a piece of bark and place it on a paper plate and draw a design, line, or swirl with the glitter gel. Using the white or blue sprinkles (or both mixed) generously sprinkle over the gel without worrying about making a mess. Immediately turn the bark over and shake off the sprinkles and the ones that stuck to the gel will naturally stick, giving you a beautiful sparkling effect.
Repeat the steps with all of the pieces and you now have the perfect bark for your next party or gathering 🙂
Final Product =) Oh La La
This was such a super fun treat to make and the best thing about it is that you can customize it anyway you want and use any colors you want to match it to your desired theme. Get creative and share yours in the comments below or let me know what questions you have.
